Services

With a true appreciation of life comes the responsibility of ensuring a humane death. A Final Act of Kindness Service for horses and mules is being offered on a monthly basis. These tough economic times, rising costs of hay, and now a cold winter have made it difficult for some folks to provide hay and care, etc. for their horses and mules. This already difficult situation is compounded by the fact that "putting a horse down" can run $200.00 or more. An animal brought to the monthly horse auction/sale may bring only a small sum. It can also create additional hardship for an older, injured, or debilitated animal that could end up being transported out of the country (to Mexico or Canada) for slaughter. In light of this, A Final Act of Kindness Service is offered for a reduced fee to

horse owners who may have difficulty coming up with the full cost of euthanasia.  This service is for ill, debilitated, and elderly horses that are suffering. Willing Servants will take ownership of each horse and make the final decision as to whether or not the horse is adoptable or should be put down with the guidance of a veterinarian. For these folks who would like to see their animals not suffer, and as a kinder, non-violent option to the auction or sale ring see the contact information below. The gift of a peaceful end for an animal in need is a wonderful gift indeed.

Final Act of Kindness Euthanasia Service
Adoption and Foster For Adoption
Willing Servants will broadcast information about a horse that an owner needs to surrender or give away due to their circumstances.  Photos of the horse along with information about the horse will be sent via email to all of the Willing Servants members who in turn forward the information on to their own lists and other equine organizations in order to significantly multiply the number of people who receive the information and photos.  Photos and information will also immediately be posted on the Adoption page of the Willing Servants website, and will be included in the monthly newsletter.  When the situation warrants it, and if there are qualified foster homes available, a horse may be immediately surrendered to Willing Servants and cared for in a foster home until ready for adoption.  This option will not be available for every horse because qualified caregivers are limited.  We hope to expand our ability to provide care in this situation.  If you have the ability and desire to offer a temporary home and a second chance to a horse, or if you need to find a good home for your horse please contact Theresa Manzella at theresa@willingservantsmt.org or call 406-363-2898.  These services are freely and happily offered to those who wish to find a good home for their equine companion.  We do not assist in the sale of horses.
